The Digital Audio Label Now Available in Ohio and West Virginia

NORMANDY PARK, Wash. (May 29, 2015) – AccessaMed, Inc. ™ is pleased to announce that Fruth Pharmacy will now provide its accessible prescription labeling solution, the Digital Audio Label, to its visually impaired customers in all 26 Ohio and West Virginia locations. As part of this offering, new and existing Fruth customers who are blind or low vision will be eligible to receive prescription and over-the-counter medications with the Digital Audio Label at little to no cost.

The Digital Audio Label is two inches tall by one inch wide and permanently adheres to prescription bottles and packages. By pressing its red button, its embedded speaker provides a clear and robust verbal description of the prescription details as prepared by the pharmacist. The Digital Audio Label does not require expensive or complicated reading systems for users.

“We are excited to collaborate with Fruth Pharmacy to provide accessible prescription labeling to its visually impaired customers,” said Chad Hazen, Director of Community Outreach AccessaMed™. “As a totally blind individual myself, taking prescription medication can often be an unnerving and unsafe situation for those who are blind, low vision or elderly. We find it commendable that Fruth recognizes this and proactively found the right solution for its customers.”
