Mills Pharmacies Offering the AccessaMed Solution

Alabama-based Pharmacy to Host Local Customer Trial of the AccessaMed Digital Audio Label

NORMANDY PARK, Wash. (August 31, 2015) – AccessaMed, Inc. is pleased to announce that Mills Pharmacies will participate in a three month trial with AccessaMed, in which select locations will offer the AccessaMed Digital Audio Label to those who wish to have their prescription label information provided in an audio format. As part of this offering, new and existing Mills customers who are blind or low vision will be eligible to receive prescription and over-the-counter medications with the Digital Audio Label at little to no cost.

The Digital Audio Label is two inches tall by one inch wide and permanently adheres to prescription bottles and packages. By pressing its red button, its embedded speaker provides a clear and robust verbal description of the prescription details as prepared by the pharmacist. The Digital Audio Label does not require expensive or complicated reading systems for users.

We are excited to collaborate with Mills Pharmacies during this trial for its visually impaired customers,” said Chad Hazen, Director of Community Outreach of AccessaMed. “For the blind, low vision and senior communities, taking prescription medication can often be an unnerving and unsafe situation. We find it commendable that Mills recognizes this and is proactively finding the right solution for its customers.”

Three of Mills Pharmacies locations will be partaking in this trial, including Homewood Pharmacy (940 Oxmoor Rd, Homewood AL 35209), Robert’s Discount Pharmacy (758 Shades Mountain Plaza, Hoover AL 35226) and Parkway Discount Drugs (9709 Parkway East, Suite F, Birmingham AL 35215).
